BINDER FASTENER DUOTEC®

Binder Fasterner Duotec

DUOTEC®

DUOTEC® Reclosable Fastening System

High‑strength, serviceable fastening for interior and exterior assemblies—without visible hardware. DUOTEC® provides reliable, repeatable engagement with tactile/audible confirmation and can be reopened for maintenance or retrofit.

Key benefits

  • Clean design: hidden fixation, no drilling or point‑loading of substrates.

  • High retention: excellent resistance to shock, vibration and rattle.

  • Serviceability: non‑destructive opening and re‑closing for routine access.

  • Assembly efficiency: fast application, fewer fixation points, reduced weight.

  • Tolerance management: self‑aligning woven structure accommodates minor misalignment.

Operating principle

Intermeshing, woven “mushroom” elements slide past one another and lock. The textile stems act like springs, delivering consistent engagement across the contact area and maintaining load under dynamic conditions. Disengagement is achieved by a controlled peel or counter‑directional pull.

Portfolio overview

Select the engagement height to match gap, stiffness and tolerance take‑up requirements.

Product Single‑side thickness (approx.) Engaged pair (approx.) Typical use case
DUOTEC® 50 ~3,1 mm ~4,5 mm Higher gap, robust engagement, interior panels
DUOTEC® 42 ~2,9 mm ~4,0 mm General purpose panels and covers
Mididuotec® ~1,6 mm ~2,3 mm Slim assemblies, reduced gap
Microduotec® ~0,6 mm ~1,5 mm Very low profile, light covers

Backings and adhesive systems can add ~+0.3 / +0.5 / +1.0 / +1.5 / +2.0 mm per side—useful for gap filling and vibration damping. Minimum recommended width depends on load case and edge protection; consult EKO‑TECH for sizing guidance.

Backings & adhesive systems

  • Pressure‑sensitive adhesives (PSA) for fast, clean bonding:

    • Acrylic (clear/black): high temperature and solvent resistance.
    • Synthetic rubber: very high initial tack and colder‑temperature bonding.
    • Acrylic foam (incl. LSE foams): conformity to uneven/low‑energy substrates and added damping.
    • Flame‑retardant (FR) options available for regulated interiors.
  • Mechanical carriers: clips/profiles with pre‑mounted DUOTEC® for snap‑in installation and edge security.

  • Low‑noise combinations: DUOTEC® paired with engineered loop/velour to reduce opening noise while maintaining retention.

Performance & environment

  • Operating temperature (fastener construction): approx. −30 °C to +150 °C (Microduotec® to +90 °C).

  • Chemical & moisture: resistant to water and common IPA‑type solvents.

  • Durability: designed for intermittent service access; cycle life depends on width/area, loading mode and environment.

Installation guidelines (PSA‑backed)

  • Surface preparation: clean, dry, dust‑ and oil‑free. Use appropriate solvent wipe; allow full flash‑off.

  • Application: place with light pressure; avoid stretching the tape/fastener.

  • Roll‑down: apply uniform pressure (≈10 N/cm²) with a hand roller to ensure full contact.

  • Cure: minimum 24 h before loading; full bond typically after ~72 h at 21–23 °C / 50% RH.

  • Engagement: align parts and press until tactile/audible confirmation is felt.

Edge management: recess or cap edges; radius corners; use rails/channels on high‑peel edges.

Design guidance

  • Use the same DUOTEC® grade on both sides for optimal performance.

  • Size by contact area and load path (peel vs. shear). Increase width/length to raise capacity.

  • For high peel or prying loads, add mechanical retainers or edge guards.

  • Combine continuous lengths with die‑cut pads or pre‑mounted clips to optimize takt time.

Compliance & documentation

  • Flammability: FMVSS‑302 and FAR 25.853 (15‑s horizontal) confirmed on selected constructions.

  • Substance compliance: RoHS and REACH (no SVHC >0.1% at time of publication).

  • Textile safety: OEKO‑TEX® Standard 100 Annex 4 parameters met for selected ranges.

  • Global declarations: OSHA article (SDS‑exempt), CONEG, China RoHS, TSCA §6 available upon request.

Certificates and detailed test reports are supplied on request for specified SKUs.

Typical applications

  • Transport interiors (rail, bus, marine): wall/ceiling panels, inspection hatches, access doors, cabling covers.

  • HVAC & industrial equipment: filter doors, service panels, cable channels, machine guards.

  • Electrical/appliance enclosures: removable covers, trim, shields.

  • Building & interior fit‑out: signage, claddings, concealed access panels.

Supply & converting by EKO‑TECH

  • Rolls, spools, or custom die‑cut pads/strips to specification.

  • Adhesive lamination (incl. acrylic foam and LSE foams), edge‑protection solutions, and pre‑mounted clip/profile assemblies.

  • Application engineering support: sizing, adhesive selection, and assembly trials.

FAQ

What if surfaces are not perfectly parallel?2025-09-26T14:03:12+02:00

The woven structure provides self‑alignment to accommodate minor angular or planar mismatch.

How many re‑closures are possible?2025-10-10T13:34:48+02:00

DUOTEC® is intended for periodic service access. Cycle life is application‑dependent; we’ll qualify it to your load and environment.

Is DUOTEC® the same as hook‑and‑loop?2025-09-26T14:00:18+02:00

No. DUOTEC® is a self‑engaging mushroom‑to‑mushroom system with significantly higher retention and a clear engagement signal.
