3M™ Thinsulate™ TAI2047

3M™ Thinsulate™ TAI2047 Thin, Light, Powerful

3M™ Thinsulate™ Acoustic Insulation TAI2047 is a 10 mm-thin, 210 g/m² non-woven mat engineered for high-efficiency noise absorption in narrow vehicle cavities. Its dual-fiber web — fine polypropylene (PP) plus loft-building polyester (PE) — traps middle- and high-frequency sound without adding weight. Both sides are calendered for abrasion resistance, and the white polyolefin scrim protects fibers during assembly.

The material stays compressible, conformable and mold-resistant, making it ideal for pillars, door panels, headliners and other tight-tolerance areas. Whether secured with ultrasonic welding, hot-melt adhesive or clips, Thinsulate TAI2047 delivers consistent NVH performance mile after mile.

Applications — Where TAI2047 Excels

  • Headliners & tight overhead spaces

  • Door panels & pillar trim

  • Instrument panels (avoids sensor interference)

  • Parcel trays & luggage compartments

  • Areas needing airflow or pressure equalisation

Why Choose TAI2047?

  • Quiet Cabin: High acoustic absorption in mid–high frequencies

  • Weight Savings: Only 21 kg/m³ density — supports lightweight vehicle design

  • Slim Profile: 10 mm thickness fits the narrowest cavities

  • Durability: Calendered surfaces and scrim resist abrasion

  • Installation Ease: Clean, non-linting mat handles better than felt or fiberglass

  • Moisture & Mold Resistance: No extra waterproof layer required

FAQ

Is the material resistant to moisture and mildew?2025-07-03T10:46:33+02:00

Yes. The mat is hydrophobic and naturally resistant to mold growth and odors — no extra barrier layer is needed.

What formats do you offer?2025-07-03T10:45:23+02:00

We supply custom-sized rolls, sheets, or die-cut parts, with or without adhesive lamination.

How is TAI2047 different from other Thinsulate products?2025-07-03T10:44:22+02:00

It’s thinner than TAI2027, with 10 mm vs 13 mm thickness — ideal when every millimetre counts in tight installs.

Can TAI2047 be delivered with adhesive backing?2025-07-03T10:43:13+02:00

Yes. We offer adhesive lamination using various 3M® tapes depending on your mounting process.

Is 10 mm TAI2047 thick enough to damp low frequencies?2025-07-03T10:42:08+02:00

TAI2047 focuses on middle- and high-frequency sound absorption. For lower frequencies, pair it with a barrier layer.
