3M™ Thinsulate™ Acoustic Insulation TAI2027

3M™ Thinsulate™ Acoustic Insulation TAI2027 is an advanced NVH solution designed specifically for the automotive industry. With a thickness of 13 mm and an ultra-light basis weight of 230 g/m², this low-density (16.2 kg/m³) insulation mat excels in reducing noise and vibration in confined vehicle areas. Thanks to a unique blend of fine polypropylene fibers and lofty polyester fibers, TAI2027 offers effective sound absorption across mid- to high-frequency ranges — all without adding significant mass. The embossed white scrim layer provides reinforcement and durability, allowing for stable performance even after installation.

Its mold-resistant and moisture-repellent properties, paired with easy processing and excellent compressibility, make it ideal for complex interior geometries. This material can be easily installed using double-sided adhesive tapes, ultrasonic welding, or mechanical clips. At EKO-TECH, a 3M Select Converter, we provide tailored converting services for TAI2027 to meet your exact technical and production requirements.

FAQ

What’s the fiber structure and why does it matter?2025-07-03T10:59:16+02:00

The polypropylene fibers absorb acoustic energy, while the polyester fibers give loft and stability. This combo delivers long-lasting performance with minimal weight.

What converting formats are available from EKO-TECH?2025-07-03T10:57:59+02:00

We provide rolls, sheets, die-cut and kiss-cut parts, laminated or unlaminated — all tailored to your specs.

How does TAI2027 compare to other insulation materials?2025-07-03T10:56:49+02:00

It’s thinner, lighter, mold-resistant, and easier to process than fiberglass or felt. Plus, it offers excellent acoustic absorption without extra waterproof layers.

Can TAI2027 be laminated with adhesive?2025-07-03T10:55:39+02:00

Absolutely. At EKO-TECH, we laminate it with a variety of 3M adhesive systems, including pressure-sensitive and heat-activated options.

What is the core use of TAI2027 in vehicles?2025-07-03T10:54:31+02:00

It’s optimized for interior noise control, particularly in tight spaces like headliners, door panels, and pillars.
